You have the choice of when you want to deduct it…either immediately on your 2009 taxes or on your 2010 taxes. This is only good if you have enough deductions to itemize otherwise just take your standard deduction.
Remember for 2009 it’s $5700 for single, $8,350 head of household, $11,400 for married filing joint.
No matter how you made your contribution…check, text message, credit card, or debit card it counts.
