IF the current health bill passes there will be some measures in there which put the oversight, enforcement, and collection of health indurance offenders on the IRS. As it stands this means if you don’t have any health insurance the IRS may hunt you down and place penalties on you.
This is a bad thing and shouldn’t be handled by the IRS. Also, I don’t know if they have the staff or the funding to handle this. There have been some staffing and budget issues at the agency in the last couple years.
